Sliced Coconut : It's Sliced, Not Broken

Just one hour

Five hundred years ago one day of work bought us not more than 10 minutes of light*. Now one day buys us ten thousands of minutes of light.
Five hundred years ago people went to bed when it got dark, and they woke up with the first sunlight.
Five hundred years ago most people had to work so hard, the thought of not going to bed at night would probably have seemed very odd.
Just being able to sit one hour in silence must have felt like a luxury. Now sitting just one hour in silence appears like torture for most.

Imagine this task.
You can place your chair by a window, chose a place you like, no TV, no phone, no radio, all you need to do is sit in silence. This also means no getting up for an hour. It’s weird; it sounds hard to me. But it’s a great exercise to slow down and be without electronics for a while.

*Yes, I am sorry, I cannot find the source right now.But I heard it on the radio. And you know what the radio says is true…. Yeah, you are right I really should have a source here. It’s not the same, but I found the price of light through the centuries.
